Japanese family that we have become friends with. They have very kindly had us to their house, so we wanted to return the favor and invited them to our apartment. Since one of their daughters also has a mid-March birthday, it was a little birthday celebration for the three of us.We cooked them goulash. They loved it. They'd never had Czech food before and they were delighted to try it. I can assume that they weren't giving false praise because they all had several helpings. We'd also made "Kim's Salad" -- which was a huge hit.
But the highlight of the evening for them was the cake that I made. They were quite surprised by it and all took out their camera phones to take pictures.
Chelsey -- What an impressive cake -- especially since I know all your cake decorating supplies are here in Phoenix!!! How much fun the Maeda family must have had. Next time you will have to cook Mexican for them.
